Denmark is proposing to ban Russian ships from entering the ports of the European Union, as well as to impose sanctions for the transportation of goods to Belarus and Russia by land.
Report informs citing UNIAN that Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod said this before the start of the meeting of the EU Council at the level of foreign ministers and defense ministers.
Kofod believes that it is necessary to continue imposing sanctions, including economic ones, against Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian oligarchs, and the economy, as well as the Russian "military machine".
"We would also support probably the most stringent sanctions that we can agree on, including on access to seaports, Russian and Belarusian transportation by land, and are ready to explore others," he said, adding that "it is necessary to stop Russian aggression".
Earlier it was reported that Latvia and two other Baltic countries are planning to ban Russian ships from entering their ports.
"Ships under the Russian flag still call at Latvian ports, which, in my opinion, is unacceptable, so we are preparing a corresponding decision in the government," Latvian Transport Minister Talis Linkaits said.
