Nine people died as flooding caused by torrential rains hit the province of Kastamonu on Turkey's Black Sea coast, the country's department for emergencies and natural disasters said, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.
"Nine people died in the flooding in Kastamonu, and one went missing in Bartin," the agency said.
The search and rescue works in the area of the natural calamity continue with over 600 people evacuated. Nearly 300 settlements were left without power. Due to the collapsed bridges and damaged road tracks, the traffic on several highways in the natural calamity area, including Bartin-Karabyuk, was blocked. Several multi-storeyed buildings collapsed due to the flooding in the Bozkurt city of the Kastamonu province, with rescuers working at the rubble site.
