The Minister of Justice of the Czech Republic, Pavel Blazek, signed an order on the extradition of criminal kingpin Polad Omarov, a citizen of Georgia, to the United States, local newspaper Pravo said, Report informs.

The extradition process of Omarov, who is originally from Azerbaijan, should be carried out in the next few days. The mobster, for whom there is an international warrant, was detained in the Czech Republic in January and has been in prison since then.

Shortly after the arrest of Omarov, it turned out that the US prosecutors accused three Eastern European mobsters who had connections with the Iranian government of planning the murder of the Iranian journalist and human rights defender Masih Alinejad living in the US.

At the end of May, the Prague City Court issued a verdict that Omarov can be extradited to the United States, including Georgia and Kazakhstan. These countries also demanded his extradition from the Czech Republic to bring him to criminal responsibility.

The Czech press said that Omarov led an organized criminal group that committed terrorist acts against the Azerbaijani communities in Russia and Ukraine.
