The extradition process of Omarov, who is originally from Azerbaijan, should be carried out in the next few days. The mobster, for whom there is an international warrant, was detained in the Czech Republic in January and has been in prison since then.
Shortly after the arrest of Omarov, it turned out that the US prosecutors accused three Eastern European mobsters who had connections with the Iranian government of planning the murder of the Iranian journalist and human rights defender Masih Alinejad living in the US.
At the end of May, the Prague City Court issued a verdict that Omarov can be extradited to the United States, including Georgia and Kazakhstan. These countries also demanded his extradition from the Czech Republic to bring him to criminal responsibility.
