Commander of Armenia's peacekeeping troops dismissed

Commander of the peacekeeping troops of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Major General Artak Tonoyan, has been dismissed, Report informs, referring to the Jokhovurd newspaper.

According to the publication, he was replaced by a younger serviceman who previously worked in the Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense. Defense Minister Suren Papikyan offered Tonoyan a new position.

The newspaper says that his dismissal coincided with the deployment of Armenian peacekeepers in Kazakhstan as part of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

"Although we are not sure that the dismissal of Artak Tonoyan is connected with the deployment of Armenian peacekeepers in Kazakhstan, Suren Papikyan continues to change the leadership of the ministry," the newspaper said.
