Armenian MP says border opening with Türkiye beneficial for Armenia

The issue of opening Turkish airspace for Armenian aircraft should be resolved by the country's aviation authorities together with European and regional colleagues, Khachatur Sukiasyan, MP from the Civil Contract faction, told journalists, Report informs via Sputnik-Armenia,

The Armenian airline FlyOne, owned by the Sukiasyan family, has not operated flights to Istanbul and a number of European countries since April 29, as Türkiye prohibits Armenian aircraft from crossing its airspace. Türkiye has also closed airspace to board number one serving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"This issue should be resolved by the Ministry of Transport and the aviation authorities of Armenia jointly with European and regional colleagues," he said.

The parliamentarian noted that, as before, he remains a supporter of the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border and the normalization of relations between the two states.

The politician explained his position by the fact that Armenia will receive economic benefits in the conditions of open borders with all neighboring countries - Georgia, Iran, Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
