Armenian ex-President summoned to Special Investigative Committee for questioning

Baku. 3 July. REPORT.AZ/ The 2nd President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan was summoned for questioning on the criminal case on the events that took place in Yerevan from 1 March to 2 March 2008. a notification was sent to him. Report informs citing the Armenian media.

Earlier, the Special Investigative Service issued a statement that on July 3, 2018 a decision was made to involve Armenia’s former Defense Minister, Colonel General Mikael Harutyunyan as part of Article 1 of the Article 300.1 of the RA Criminal Code, he overthrows the constitutional order by prior agreement with other persons. Harutyunyan was declared as a wanted person, and a petition was filed with the court for applying arrest as a measure of restraint against him.

On March 1, 2008, the Armenian police dispersed the demonstrators protesting against the election of Serzh Sargsyan as the President of Armenia. At least 8 people died as a result of the tragic events in Yerevan.
