Armenian Economy Minister resigns

Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan resigned, Report informs via Armenian media.

Vahan Kerobyan announced his decision to leave on social networks after three years in this position.

“It turns out that I will no longer serve you as Minister of Economy... When I accepted the position of Minister on November 20, 2020, there was a possibility that I would remain there for several days and months, since the likelihood of a change of power was very high. At this time, due to many disagreements, I more than once wanted to leave my position, but I put my ‘I’ lower in order to achieve the maximum possible for the country,” Kerobyan said.

He did not elaborate the reasons for leaving, but this may be due to the recent corruption scandal, which involved officials of the Ministry of Economy.

In January, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Armenia conducted searches in the Ministry of Economy and the apartments of a number of individuals.
