The television and radio broadcasting network of Armenia will suspend the broadcasting of five Armenian TV channels for two hours, Garik Hayrapetyan, head of the Human Resources, Legal and Economic Department of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, said in an interview with Armenpress, Report informs.
He noted that these are the TV companies Shant, ATV, Freenews, Dar 21 and Fortuna that have accumulated debts. The decision was made solely due to the non-fulfillment of contractual obligations, and attempts to find political subtext here are untenable.
“This process has nothing to do with the content of the broadcast, which is most clearly evidenced by the list of TV companies that fell under the sanctions,” he added.
Shant TV company holds a leading position in the rating in Armenia. The Freenews TV channel is considered to be pro-government, and information often appears in the media that it is connected with the speaker of parliament Alen Simonyan.
