Armenia to introduce criminal police by end of 2024

Armenia will form criminal police by the end of this year, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan said in an interview with Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper, Report informs.
According to her, the main function of the police that will be created under the country's Internal Affairs Ministry will be the fight against organized crime.
“From a functional point of view, the main task of the criminal police is to prevent particularly serious crimes, identify and solve them,” Sargsyan said.
The deputy minister reported that the acceptance of applications had already begun on January 3, and will continue until January 26. It is planned to begin professional training for employees in May of this year. The process will be completed in the fall, “then appointments will be made and the formation can be considered complete.”
