According to the National Statistics Service of Armenia, the population growth in January-July was 1,252 people, down 1.8-fold from the previous year, Report informs, citing Armenian media.
This figure is 2.9-fold less than the same period of 2019. The high rate of COVID-19 deaths also triggered this process.
“The population growth was also affected by the increasing emigration of the citizens. For example, 103,600 people adopted Russian citizenship in 2018-2020, and January-June 2021,” News.am says.
In 2020, 30,500 Armenian citizens adopted Russian citizenship (14,100 people in January-June).
