Baku. 14 December. REPORT.AZ/ President of Belarus o expressed concern over Armenia's statements against the Belarusian candidate for the post of CSTO Secretary General, Report informs citing Interfax.

“It’s a shame that we can’t elect a chief CSTO official,” Lukashenko said at a press conference to the Russian media outlets in Minsk.

He pointed out that the Armenian authorities should meet the CSTO countries halfway, since it was Yerevan that “dipped” the organization into its internal political problems.

"I give you the current secretary of state, a young general (the state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas - ed.). An intelligent guy with a wealth of experience, staff work. He is the state secretary, all the presidents know him”, President continued.

The President of Belarus recalled that he proposed that Zas would visit each of the CSTO countries, including Armenia.

"If you are ready to accept him, listen to him ... You can disagree (with his candidacy - ed.), you can follow your principles. But you just talk to him. Maybe he will be better for you than any Armenian. What are you afraid of? Belarusians? After all, we are insiders," Lukashenko said.
