Rezvan Hakimzadeh, Iran's newly appointed Deputy of Primary Education in the Ministry of Education, has announced that at least 164,000 children are currently out of school, Report informs via IranWire.

Hakimzadeh explained that birth records are the primary method for identifying children in need of education.

In 2021, the parliament research center reported a 17 percent increase in school dropouts over the previous six years.

The report, titled "Investigation on the Trend of Dropping Out and Remaining in Education," revealed that despite having numerous policies before and after the 1979 Islamic Revolution to ensure full educational coverage, these goals have not been achieved.

In the 2020-2021 school year, 911,272 children who were required to be in school were absent from education, and 279,019 students dropped out during the same period.
