10 people arrested in Türkiye over child murder case

Ten people have been arrested in Türkiye as part of an investigation into the murder of an eight-year-old child in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, which has caused a public outcry. Among them are eight of her closest relatives, according to the TRT Haber TV channel, Report informs referring to TASS.

The body of Narin Guran, who went missing on August 21, was found on September 8 in a bag on the bank of a river near the village where she lived with her parents. A forensic examination found signs of strangulation on the girl’s body. Initially, suspicion of the murder fell on her uncle, who is the head of the village. A total of 22 people were detained as part of the investigation.

By a court decision, 10 people were arrested, including Narin’s mother and older brother. The Diyarbakir Provincial Prosecutor’s Office is conducting a comprehensive investigation. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan previously said that the perpetrators of the crime should be given the harshest punishment.
