The Armenian leadership is trying to sit on two chairs, maintaining cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), but at the same time taking steps that ignore Russian interests, the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a briefing, Report informs.
“Apparently, the Armenian authorities forgot that the country’s welfare was largely based on the bonuses it received from Russia’s cooperation and membership in the Eurasian Economic Union - these are real numbers and facts, unlike many empty statements and promises made by the West,” she said. “Our partners are turning to us with a request to preserve all this, while in the meantime they themselves are taking steps, particularly in the security sphere, that damage bilateral relations and ignore Russia’s interests. What is this, an attempt to sit on two chairs or what is it called?”
According to the diplomat, if this is an attempt to sit on two chairs, then "it did no good to anyone."
