Venezuela is moving light tanks, patrol boats and armored personnel carriers to the border with Guyana due to the ongoing dispute over the ownership of the Essequibo region, Report informs citing the Wall Street Journal.

Venezuela is backing up its threats to annex parts of Guyana and secure access to one of the world's largest oil fields for more than a decade by moving light tanks, missile-equipped patrol boats and armored personnel carriers to the two countries' border, the publication said.

According to the newspaper, the deployment of Venezuela's armed forces is visible in satellite images and in videos recently published by the Venezuelan military on social networks.

The Wall Street Journal does not specify the number of tanks and boats deployed on the border, but emphasizes that the Venezuelan army numbers about 150,000 people.
