White House: US is not negotiating Iran nuclear deal with Tehran

Washington is not engaged in diplomatic settlement of the situation around Iran's nuclear program and is not negotiating an agreement with Tehran, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said, Report informs.

According to him, there is no talk of any deal between the two states at the moment:

“Regarding their (Iran's - note) nuclear ambitions, US President Joe Biden clearly stated that we will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. He would prefer that we reach such an outcome through diplomatic means. But diplomacy is not being considered in this matter at the moment.

The current situation does not mean that Biden has abandoned his commitment to solving the problem through diplomacy. However, the president wants to have other options at his disposal to ensure that a nuclear-armed Iran is not possible.”

He added that Washington's negotiations with Tehran are not about a deal but about American citizens detained in Iran.
