Volcano in Kuril islands sends ash to height of 2.8 km

The Ebeko volcano, located on the North Kuril island of Paramushir, sent a plume of ash to a height of 2.8 km above sea level on Tuesday afternoon, Report informs, citing the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Sakhalin.
According to the ministry, the plume of ash stretched eastward from the volcano for a distance of more than 5 km.
"No ash fall was observed in the city of Severo-Kurilsk. The smell of hydrogen sulfide was not felt. There is no threat to people's lives," the message reads.
