US Vice President Mike Pence landed in Iraq Saturday to meet American troops stationed there, Report informs a security source told AFP.
Pence's unannounced trip to the Ain al-Asad base in western Iraq - his first to the country as vice-president - came nearly a year after President Donald Trump made his own surprise visit to the sprawling complex, drawing criticism for not visiting any Iraqi officials.
No schedule has been announced for Pence's visit.
Notably, U.S. President Donald Trump on December 26, 2018 made an unannounced visit to Iraq, where he met with US troops. President announced that he did not plan to withdraw troops from this Arab country, while Iraq could become the basis for operations against terrorists in Syria.
