US reports first case of new COVID-19 variant

For the first time in Colorado, experts have recorded a novel strain of the coronavirus, Report informs, citing Washington Post.
"Today in Colorado, we confirmed the first case of a new type of COVID-19 detected in the United Kingdom, B.1.1.7," said the state's governor, Jared Polis.
According to the newspaper, this is the first case of infection with a new strain in the US.
Earlier, Germany, Switzerland, Nigeria, Canada, Italy, and other countries announced the coronavirus strain, which was first detected in Britain.
This mutated variant is more contagious, so it is considered dangerous.
