The US Department of Commerce is considering introducing new rules that would further restrict or completely ban the use of Chinese-manufactured drones on American territory.
Report informs via foreign media sources that the department also wants to receive public proposals by March 4 on how to secure supply chains related to drones.
According to media reports, the decision on new rules for Chinese drone usage will be made by the administration of President-elect Donald Trump.
Chinese companies account for the absolute majority of US drone purchases used for commercial purposes. The US Congress had already banned the Pentagon from purchasing drones and their components from China, as well as using them, back in 2019.
In December, President Joe Biden signed a law that could lead to a ban on sales of new drone models from companies SZ DJI Technology Co., Ltd. and Autel Robotics Co., Ltd. in the US.
