US intends to resume HEU production

The United States plans to resume production of highly enriched uranium (HEU), NNSA Administrator Jill Hruby said at the 2024 Nuclear Deterrence Summit, Report informs.
"Given the global dynamics, it is becoming clear that we will need to restart a highly enriched uranium (HEU) capability in the US in a few decades. The Department of Energy has developed a coordinated strategy for uranium enrichment for civil nuclear power and future defense needs that we are beginning to implement," she noted.
