US eyes allocating up to $9B by 2030 for forest conservation

The US government intends to allocate up to $9 billion to conserve forests around the world until 2030 if approved by Congress, Report informs referring to the White House website.

“This is a plan that is the first of its kind, taking a whole-of-government approach and working, in our case, with Congress to deploy up to $9 billion in US funding through 2030 to conserve and restore our forests and mobilize billions more from our partners,” President Joe Biden said.

The announced plan supports the goals of the international community to end the decline in natural forest area by 2030. Washington has previously joined this initiative, the report says.

In addition to financing in the amount of $9 billion, the plan sets goals to stimulate measures to preserve forest ecosystems, private investment in this area, to create databases and data systems related to forest protection.
