US considers it vital to control arms supply to Kyiv

The US administration considers it vital to exercise control over the weapons supplied to Ukraine, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said at a regular briefing for journalists, Report informs referring to the White House website.

She was commenting on the decision of Republican Senator Rand Paul (from Kentucky) to block an accelerated vote on the allocation of additional assistance to Ukraine in the amount of about $40 billion.

He insisted on the inclusion in the bill of an amendment on the creation of an apparatus that will control the spending of this amount and, in particular, those funds that are used to supply weapons to Kyiv. Psaki was asked to comment on this step.

“Well, I would say that we agree oversight is critical. That’s why the package already includes millions of dollars to support additional oversight measures, including additional funding for existing inspectors general. And we encourage all senators to promptly pass the bill as it stands. We feel what’s in there is sufficient,” Psaki said.
