The second package of U.S. sanctions against Russia in connection with the “poisoning of Skripal case" includes two restrictive measures. Report informs that The New York Times writes citing the document.

According to the newspaper, the first measure involves the prohibition of US banks to make any loans or credits to the Russian government. The exception may be only the loans taken out for the purchase of food.

The second step involves blocking the financial or technical assistance to Russia from the international institutions.

The new sanctions will be imposed in connection with the use of the substance “Novichok” in Salisbury against the former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia.

Despite the fact that the introduction of a new sanctions package was expected in November last year, and happened only now, a senior representative of the US presidential administration told The New York Times that the White House had no intention to delay the sanctions process. Sanctions were not imposed at the beginning of the year because there were fears that Moscow "incorrectly believes the message."
