As many as 541,000 doses of MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine was delivered by UNICEF to Tajikistan with financial support from the World Bank, Report informs referring to the UNICEF website.
This delivery worth $840,173 is part of the World Bank-financed TEC-19 project aimed at supporting the Government of Tajikistan in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The project provided one-time emergency support to fill a budget gap for procuring MMR vaccines for children during the pandemic.
“Maintaining routine immunization services is vital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Immunization is one of the world’s most cost-effective public health interventions, saving millions of lives and protecting countless children from illness and disability,” UNICEF Representative in Tajikistan Osama Makkawi said.
