UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who is on an official visit to Washington, met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Report’s local bureau informs.
They discussed the importance of multilateral efforts to resolve current security issues such as the conflict in Sudan and the critical importance of an immediate ceasefire in that country.
Guterres and Blinken noted the need to alleviate the plight of the civilian population of Sudan. During the meeting, the head of the UN and the US secretary of state also touched upon international efforts in Afghanistan, especially in support of the rights of women and girls, and other topics of mutual interest, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
