UN Sec.-Gen.: Arab League has important role to play in promoting peace

The Arab League has a vital role to play in advancing peace, sustainable development and human rights in the region, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Twitter, Report informs.

“Today in Algeria, I urged leaders to generously support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and continue working with the UN to address global challenges,” he tweeted.

On November 1, Algiers hosted the 31st Arab League Summit. At the invitation of President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, hosting the Summit, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev took part in the opening ceremony of the event as a guest of honor.
