Hunger continues to haunt millions of Afghans, with a third of the country uncertain of where their next meal will come from, the UN World Food Programme (WFP) said in a statement, Report informs.
WFP said families are less prepared than ever to face the harsh winter months when hunger bites hardest and communities in mountainous areas are cut off by mounds of snow and ice.
According to the statement, from January to November 2023, WFP reached 18.4 million people with more than 559,000 tons of food and $173 million in cash or vouchers across all programs. Of those assisted, 9.3 million were women and girls, and over 10.5 million were children.
