At least 25 million Sudanese need urgent humanitarian assistance, UN Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths said, Report informs via TASS.
An obstacle to this is the ongoing hostilities there. “We have only been able to deliver essential supplies to 4.1 million people since mid-April,” Griffiths said.
Last week, at talks in Saudi Arabia, Sudan's warring parties pledged to work to improve the population's access to humanitarian aid. The UN is expected to assist in the implementation of this task.
