Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and his Romanian counterpart Oana-Silvia Țoiu, who is visiting Kyiv, discussed the diversification of gas supply through the Trans-Balkan corridor, Report informs via Interfax-Ukraine.
"Today we also focused on energy security ahead of winter. We discussed the importance of diversifying gas supplies through the Trans-Balkan gas corridor. It was through this corridor that Ukraine recently received Azerbaijani gas. And it was its infrastructure that became the target of Russian insidious strikes," Sybiha said during a joint press statement.
According to Sybiha, he and his Romanian counterpart agreed to do everything in their power to ensure that the leaders of Ukraine and Romania finally formalize the transition of countries to a strategic partnership this year.
On July 28, Naftogaz Ukraine concluded the first agreement on the purchase of Azerbaijani gas with a subdivision of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, SOCAR Energy Ukraine. The first test delivery of gas is being carried out via the Trans-Balkan corridor along the Bulgaria - Romania - Ukrainian border route.
On May 27, Ukraine simplified the conditions for gas transportation through the Trans-Balkan corridor. The corresponding decision was made by the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities.
