Over the next year and a half, the number of Iris-T air defense systems will triple and their total number will exceed 10 units, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk said during a telethon, Report informs via RBC-Ukraine.
"Today we have two systems (Iris-T ) in Ukraine, two more, which were promised to us last year, will be delivered by the end of this year. That is, we will have four systems," Melnyk said.
According to him, the contract between Diehl and the German government envisages the production of four more Iris-T systems.
Earlier Germany announced the preparation of the largest package of military support for Ukraine. It includes artillery, air defense systems, armored combat vehicles and military engineering equipment worth more than 2.7 billion euros.
