At a session of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada held on February 11, a bill authorizing the purchase of two nuclear reactors from Bulgaria to complete the power units of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant was adopted.
According to Report, the bill was adopted after lengthy discussions.
This equipment remained after the cancellation of the new NPP construction project in Bulgaria. In return, Ukraine plans to use these reactors to complete the construction of KhNPP-3 (80% completed) and KhNPP-4 (25% completed).
Fifteen years ago Rosatom won the tender in Bulgaria, but the construction was later suspended.
