Two Russian passenger planes, namely the flights of Pobeda and Aeroflot airlines en route from Moscow to Kaliningrad, flew over Finland while avoiding thunderstorms on Wednesday, despite EU sanctions, Report informs via TASS.

"I can confirm that this happened. The planes flew in Finnish airspace for some time because they had to avoid thunderclouds," Leena Huhtamaa, a spokeswoman for air traffic management company Fintraffic, told the publication.

The publication reminds that due to EU sanctions, Russian aircraft are prohibited from using Finnish and EU airspace, however, there may be exceptions in case of emergency.
