Turkish minister discusses cooperation with Russia at SPIEF

Ankara expects to continue energy cooperation with Russia in the near future, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, said in an interview with the Turkish state agency Anadolu, according to Report.

"Russia is one of the largest suppliers of energy resources to Türkiye—a very important supplier of oil, natural gas, nuclear energy, as well as coal and petroleum products—and we have a long-standing energy cooperation with Russia… The Turkish side intends to continue this cooperation in the near term," Bayraktar said while commenting on the results of his visit to Russia to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

The Minister of Energy noted that during his contacts at SPIEF, he discussed the current state of cooperation with Russian officials.

"And what can be done in the future. We had the opportunity to meet with our respective counterparts in Saint Petersburg, where we arrived for SPIEF. At the forum's panels, we assessed our cooperation in the field of nuclear energy and other energy sectors, as well as global developments. Therefore, it is an important platform," he said.

SPIEF is taking place from June 18 to 21. The main theme of SPIEF 2025 is "Shared Values – The Basis of Growth in a Multipolar World."
