Nineteen people are confirmed dead while 13 others are missing in the aftermath of tropical cyclone Maring (Kompasu) on the northern Philippine island of Luzon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
There were landslides due to rains in the province of Benguet, and large areas were damaged by floods. The hurricane has now left the Philippines, but forecasters have warned of the danger of heavy rains. More than 10,000 people were evacuated due to the disaster.
