Tokyo to host Turkmen-Japanese business forum

The Turkmen-Japanese business forum with the participation of representatives of small and medium-sized businesses is planned to be held on March 27 in Tokyo, said Chairman of the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Atdayev, Report informs referring to the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.

Atdayev, during a meeting of the country’s Cabinet of Ministers, noted that during the forum the possibilities of developing bilateral cooperation in the areas of investment, industry, transport and logistics, as well as in the private sector, will be considered. It is also planned to hold a presentation of the ongoing work to create the National Pavilion of Turkmenistan at the upcoming World Exhibition EXPO 2025 in Japan.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the development of trade and economic relations with foreign partners is one of the priority areas of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, noting the great importance of exhibitions, business meetings and conferences regularly held in the country and abroad in expanding cooperation. The head of state instructed to ensure a high organizational level of the business forum.

In Turkmenistan, as of the end of 2022, 38 investment projects with the participation of Japanese companies were registered for a total amount exceeding $11 billion, about 230 million euros and almost 17 billion yen. Over the past few years, with the participation of Japanese companies, large facilities in the field of gas chemistry and electric power have been implemented and put into operation in the country. Japan and Turkmenistan also cooperate in the fields of transport, industry, water management, finance and ecology.
