Tokayev: Kazakhstan must ensure economic self-sufficiency

Kazakhstan must form its strong industrial foundation and ensure economic self-sufficiency, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during his address to the people "Economic course of fair Kazakhstan" at the opening of the parliamentary session, Report informs referring to TASS.

“At the current stage, the most important task is to form a solid industrial foundation for the country, to ensure economic self-sufficiency. Therefore, the main emphasis should be placed on the accelerated development of the manufacturing sector. We must implement a number of projects that are truly life-changing for our country. The task of diversifying the economy is becoming even more urgent,” he said.

He noted that it is necessary to focus on such areas as deep processing of metals, oil, gas and coal chemistry, heavy engineering, uranium conversion and enrichment, production of automotive components and fertilizers.
