3 killed in nighttime shooting in Marseille

At least three people were killed in three mass shootings on the streets of Marseille on Monday night, and eight people were injured, BFM TV said, Report informs via TASS.

The first shooting took place in the 15th arrondissement in the north of Marseille, in the La Castellane neighborhood, around midnight. Two victims died from their wounds, another is in critical condition. A little later, in the same district, near the Les Aygalades neighborhood, near the A7 motorway, a second shootout took place, as a result of which five more people were injured. The third one occurred at approximately 01:00 local time in the 2nd arrondissement, on Rue Vincennes Leblanc in the central part of the city, where doctors and police found one dead and two others seriously injured.

All victims are young men. BFM TV did not specify the alleged motives of the perpetrators but said that the incidents took place in areas associated with drug trafficking.

Since the beginning of the year, 13 people have already died in shootings in Marseiile, and in most cases, it was a matter of settling scores between drug gangs. In total, organized crime groups committed 28 murders in the city in 2022.
