The Thai Cabinet decided to extend a state of emergency introduced in the country due to the pandemic coronavirus from six months to January 15, 2021, Report says, citing TASS
The approval was a formality after a meeting of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, had approved it on November 18 and submitted the proposal to the final cabinet approval.
The latest extension is from December 1 this year to January 15 next year, according to Anucha Burapachaisri.
He said the extension was longer than the previous 30-day periods, so it covered the New Year holidays where many people travel, and the risk of an outbreak was high.
