Taliban urges WHO to provide test kits for omicron strain

Abdul Salam Hanafi, who was appointed by the radical Taliban that seized power in Afghanistan to the post of deputy chairman of the interim government, has asked the representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) to provide test kits for detecting the Omicron variant, Deputy Spokesperson for the banned movement Inamulla Samangani said, Report informs referring to TASS.

The healthcare situation in Afghanistan remains dire due to the lack of necessary medicines, specialists, as well as sufficient financial resources.

According to the latest WHO data, in a country with a population of about 39 million people, 162,140 cases of coronavirus infection were detected, 7,409 infected people died. However, monitoring of the spread of infection in the country is irregular, and in some regions, it is completely absent.
