The Taliban government, which controls Afghanistan, has said it will restore the ancient Yoava synagogue and mikvah (ritual bath in Judaism) in the country's city of Herat, Report informs, citing Newsru.
It is reportedly one of the 4 ancient synagogues in Herat. This place of worship was built in 1393. It has not been used for its intended purpose for many years. It was stated that there is no Jewish community in Afghanistan. The last community members left the country in 2021.
It was reported that the Aliph foundation of Switzerland allocated nearly $500 thousand for the restoration of the temple.
