Taiwan to use military personnel in earthquake rescue operation

The Taiwanese authorities decided to use military personnel to participate in the rescue operation and liquidation of the consequences of the earthquake, Report informs citing the island's defense ministry.

"After receiving information that there were leaning houses and other damage in Hualien County, the second operational zone sent troops to provide assistance to the victims," the document notes.

The defense ministry indicated that the army has created a special headquarters that will collect all data and coordinate actions with civilian authorities.
