The new Syrian authorities demanded that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants based in the north of the country surrender their weapons unconditionally, Report informs via the Hürriyet newspaper.

According to the newspaper, two meetings were held between representatives of the new authorities in Damascus and the PKK.

At these meetings, emissaries of the PKK and its Syrian branch - the People's Defense Forces (YPG) - demanded in exchange for laying down their weapons a division or army corps in the emerging Syrian army, as well as an equal share of oil fields in the north of the Arab republic, which they control together with the US.

"The new authorities didn't even discuss this issue, setting the PKK-YPG the condition to lay down their weapons unconditionally," the article states.
