Sweden remains in recession, and unemployment in the country is the highest in the last 10 years, excluding the pandemic period, according to the Government Chancellery, Report informs referring to TASS.
Unemployment among people aged 15-74 is now 8.3%. This is the same figure as in the previous quarter, when there was a slight increase in annual terms.
"The recession is estimated to have reached its lowest point this year, and an economic recovery is expected in the future. Unemployment remains high, especially among those born abroad," the Chancellery noted.
Minister of Labor Market and Integration Johan Pehrson notes that every unemployed person should also make efforts to find employment, "for example by learning Swedish, getting an education and gaining knowledge about how Swedish society works."
In the 2024 budget bill, the government allocated more funds for vocational training.
