Sweden eyes sending troops to NATO battle group in Latvia

Sweden intends to send its military to Latvia in November, where they will be part of a NATO battle group, Sweden’s permanent representative to NATO Axel Wernhoff told the European edition of the Politico newspaper, Report informs referring to TASS.
“Wernhoff reaffirmed Sweden’s plan to station troops in Latvia, as part of the NATO presence there. Sweden plans to begin the operation from November onward, with troops rotating with Denmark’s, while some missions such as minesweeping could start earlier,” the newspaper noted.
Wernhoff also believes that NATO will have to deal with the military threat from Russia for decades to come.
