The UK government will allocate 100 million pounds ($125 million) to help developing countries that are most affected by climate change, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said at the global summit on food security in London, Report informs referring to TASS.
The assistance is provided to countries in East Africa, the Sahel region, Afghanistan and Malawi that have been hit hardest by climate change-related cyclones and droughts, he said.
Sunak noted that London, as part of a long-term strategy, plans to move from combating food crises to preventing their occurrence.
The UK is using technology to anticipate and prevent food security crises, he added. Together with its partners, the UK is using artificial intelligence to model the impact of climate change on agriculture to prevent future crises, he said.
