Strongest earthquake in 80 years reported in Slovakia

The head of the seismology department of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Kristian Csicsay, has reported the strongest in 80 years earthquake of magnitude 5 that occurred in the country on October 9, Report informs referring to TASS.
“An earthquake of magnitude 5 occurred in eastern Slovakia on Monday evening,” he noted. “It was a fairly strong earthquake for the region. The last time such an earthquake was recorded here was 80 years ago.”
The epicenter of the earthquake was near the city of Presov. The tremors occurred at a depth of 10 km. In the village of Pakostov, a Greek Catholic church was damaged and cracks appeared in the building. No other damage was reported.
The earthquake, which occurred in eastern Slovakia, was felt in northeastern Hungary, southeastern Poland and western Ukraine.
