South Sudanese official’s bag with money for 2024 Olympic delegation stolen

Unknowns stole a bag of the deputy minister of sports and youth policy of South Sudan in Paris, containing $35,000 intended for the country’s delegation during the 2024 Olympics, according to the Valeurs Actuelles magazine, Report informs referring to TASS.

According to the publication, the incident occurred in a hotel in the suburb of Villejuif on August 4 evening. The official left the bag unattended on one of the tables in the hotel lobby. The employees who were present in the room at the time said that they didn’t see anything.

The bag also contained jewelry, the victim's documents, her mobile phone and various passes for access to Olympic facilities.

The bag was later found by police in the commune of Massy near Paris, but there was no money or jewelry in it.

Slovak cyclists were robbed in Paris earlier.
