Sheikha Moza bint Nasser withdraws from role as UNESCO goodwill ambassador

Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, wife of Qatar’s former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, has withdrawn from her position as goodwill ambassador with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Report informs referring to Al Jazeera.
The move came after Sheikha Moza said UNESCO had failed to carry out its role in rescuing and providing relief to the children of Gaza, who are the main victims of Israel’s ongoing bombardment campaign.
Sheikha Moza announced her decision during a summit in Istanbul earlier today, the sources said.
She has worked with the UN to support global education since 2003.
