Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will stand trial in the case of the financing of his presidential campaign in 2007 by the Libyan authorities, Report informs via TASS.
The prosecutor's office accuses the former president of "illegal financing of the election campaign", "passive corruption" and "concealment of embezzlement of public funds". According to the communique, such crimes can be punished by 10 years in prison. The first hearing is scheduled for March 7, 2024.
